About this role

As a Security Guard, you will be an integral part of the Security Team executing processes at the facility to ensure associates, customers, and assets are protected. At the gates, you will be the face of ADESA to customers, vendors, and associates. You will play an active role in ensuring Inventory Control procedures are followed and support vehicle location research when necessary.

You will secure all gates and buildings, patrol the premises, and sound alarms or notify authorities in emergencies. Verify only authorized individuals enter the property and check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit. Greet customers at the gate, provide directions, and resolve complaints in a friendly manner while using handheld devices to input vehicle information including VIN numbers.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience within a customer service environment
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to relate well with others and establish strong working relationships
  • Adept at utilizing ADESA technology including handheld devices
  • Ability to support vehicle location research when necessary
  • Capable of working various shifts and weekends
  • Professional appearance and ability to maintain orderly work environment
  • Skill in de-escalating difficult situations

Responsibilities

  • Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises; sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency
  • Verify only authorized individuals enter the property and provide facility directions to customers, vendors, and transporters
  • Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property
  • Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property
  • Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service; resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner
  • De-escalate difficult situations to ensure collaboration with partners
  • Use handheld device to input vehicle information including VIN number, miles, owner identification, and repair orders; verify VIN matches Bill of Lading
  • Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking pipes, or unsecured doors; account for keys, codes, and security information
