They patrol assigned areas and investigate potential criminal conduct.

Officers patrol areas with known security issues, identify unsafe conditions, and secure property to prevent theft, injuries, or damage. They investigate complaints, thefts, and shortages by questioning individuals and notifying law enforcement. Authorized officers detain suspects and participate in court proceedings.

Duties include dispatching via integrated security systems, maintaining documentation, and handling radio calls for assistance. Officers assist with workplace victims, medical emergencies, patient restraints, dignitary protection, and traffic control. They maintain strict confidentiality and accountability for valuables and evidence.

Excellent customer service skills are essential, with ability to de-escalate stressed individuals and build positive relationships. Officers work independently or in teams, multitask, and apply critical thinking for resolutions. Voluntary participation in departmental committees offers engagement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice (preferred); cannot accept experience in lieu of degree
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License
  • Experience in hospital, security/police, emergency medical or customer services (3-5 years preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to deal with and effectively deescalate anxious/stressed people and manage aggression
  • Works effectively both independently and in teams; able to multitask
  • Strong problem-solving skills with critical and analytical thinking
  • Good judgment, prioritizing, industrious, and creative resolutions

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas, giving particular attention to those where security problems have occurred
  • Identify unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas to prevent theft, injuries, or damages
  • Investigate thefts, shortages, and complaints involving potential criminal misconduct
  • Prepare and submit written reports in a complete and accurate manner; make notations in log
  • Maintain accountability for valuables, property, and evidence coming into custody
  • Perform as Dispatcher utilizing integrated security systems and radio dispatch personnel
  • Assist in medical emergencies, patient restraints, dignitary protection, and traffic control
  • Enforce hospital security regulations and report potential safety hazards
