Security Officer - Level 1

Security Officers at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel enforce policy and control procedures to provide a safe and pleasurable environment for guests and employees. They report to the Security Supervisor with no supervisory duties. The role follows a structured chain of command up to Vice President of Surveillance/Security.

Day-to-day duties include verifying and guarding currency transfers, posting at entrances to enforce policies and Project 21, and resolving customer disputes professionally. Officers verify and escort Game Technicians, issue badges to visitors and vendors, and retrieve lost and found items. They patrol parking lots per Risk Management approval, direct traffic, and assist with valet parking.

Officers work closely with surveillance and local Emergency Services while maintaining department service standards for guests. They file reports on safety, OSHA, lost and found, and liability incidents. Collaboration ensures comprehensive security coverage across the property.

New hires begin as trainees with a one-week 40-hour classroom training academy, requiring a 90% average on quizzes and tests. Five days of field training involve shadowing and evaluations by a Field Training Officer at each shift's end. Successful completion advances to Level 1 assignment under a supervisor, with paths to higher levels via proficiency tests.
