About this role

The Handler will be responsible for screening cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. The role requires completing a 4–8 weeks minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.

Daily duties include participating in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify threats. The Handler conducts X-Ray, physical search, and trace detection while commanding a trained working dog in operational settings.

Work conditions range from busy training environments to field work with frequent interruptions. Outdoor duties in inclement weather, including heat, cold, and humidity, are required along with nights, weekends, and holiday shifts.

The Handler maintains training records and all job-related certifications. The assigned canine must live inside the employee’s residence, which is subject to recurring inspections to ensure adequate indoor climate control.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required and must have been held for a minimum of three years prior to application
  • One to two years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
  • Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks of employment
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment
  • Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate to and from the work location

Responsibilities

  • Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify threats
  • Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and trace detection as needed
  • Perform Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog
  • Maintain training records for the assigned canine team
  • Provide care and maintenance of assigned canine that must live inside the employee’s residence subject to inspections
  • Maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances
  • Operate company vehicle during on-site training periods
