Venue Security maintains the safety and security of all staff, artists, vendors, and guests during concerts as well as special events. Work occurs in the music hall, Foundation Room, and Restaurant space at Citizens House of Blues Boston.

This part-time position starts at $20 per hour. Daily tasks involve conducting guest checks with metal detectors and pat downs, verifying IDs for those under 30 drinking alcohol, and identifying improper behavior. Support crowd flow, de-escalate conflicts, and set up security equipment like stanchions and bike racks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct checks of guests and their belongings with metal detectors and pat downs to ensure no prohibited or harmful items enter the venue
  • Check identification of any guest who appears to be under 30 years of age drinking alcoholic beverages
  • Identify improper behavior and questionable individuals, alerting management
  • Communicate clearly using radios, hand signals and flashlights, remaining in constant contact throughout the shift
  • Support venue staff members in handling disorderly conduct, verbal or physical altercations
  • Assist with crowd control, keeping good flow and avoiding crowding
  • Prevent and resolve altercations among guests using de-escalation tactics; assist with removal of guests when required
  • Set up and break down stanchions, bike racks, metal detectors; safeguard against theft and property damage
