About this role

As a crucial member of Securitas, you'll work as an Explosives Detection Dog Handler alongside highly trained canine partners to safeguard aviation. Your keen intuition, dedication, and teamwork will help ensure the safety and security of aviation assets. Deliver explosives detection screening capability to counter terrorist and criminal activity.

Screen cargo in accordance with UK regulations using technical and canine methods. Maintain the operational capability of the FREDDs through on-the-job and continuation training. Deploy when required to support the wider business and manage customer requests to satisfactory resolution.

Operate within the aviation sector, complying with Dept for Transport regulations, Civil Aviation Authority, and Securitas procedures. Lead on health and safety matters, ensuring site compliance with all regulations. Maintain positive relationships with animals under your control and diarise all events and incidents.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (clean license with no endorsements) and live within a 50 minute commute to the site
  • Able to home kennel Securitas provided working dog
  • Ability to carefully monitor canine health and administer necessary care
  • Canine training experience, ideally within detection capabilities
  • Must have a full UK driving license
  • Good observation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Screen cargo in accordance with UK regulations utilising technical and canine methods
  • Maintain the operational capability of the FREDDs
  • Conduct on the job training and continuation training
  • Deploy when required in support of the wider business
  • Produce and maintain records associated with FREDDs training
  • Maintain rigid and documented control over all training aids
  • Maintain a positive relationship with animals under your control
  • Be the lead on matters Health and Safety relating to the task
