Join the Security team at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited in a meaningful role ensuring our city is safe. This fixed-term position starts ASAP until approx. July 2027. Work as a motivated, detail-focused Control Room Operator in the Safety and Security team.

Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, and alarm systems while working closely with the Shift Supervisor. Ensure the safety and security of people, venues, and assets. Follow procedures and best practices in a fast-paced environment.

Respond calmly and effectively to situations as part of a wider team of security personnel. Demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct. Enjoy shift work outside normal business hours with reliable transport.

Salary between NZ $57,000 and NZ $78,000 based on skillset and experience (Band D). Access council and partnership benefits. Opportunity for reimbursement of required security certifications upon hire.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated with strong observation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of security principles, best practices, and procedures
  • Familiarity with CCTV, access control, and alarm systems
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
  • Hold a Certificate of Approval (COA) and/or NZQA National Certificate in Security (Level 3) or willing to obtain (reimbursed)
  • Comfortable working shifts outside normal business hours
  • Reliable transport
  • Right to work in New Zealand, 2 positive references, clear MOJ check, pass drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate CCTV, access control, and alarm systems
  • Work closely with the Shift Supervisor
  • Ensure the safety and security of people, venues, and assets
  • Follow procedures and best practices
  • Respond calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Observe monitors for security incidents
  • Log and report security events
  • Coordinate responses with security personnel
