About this role

As a crucial member of Securitas, work as an Explosives Detection Dog Handler alongside highly trained canine partners to safeguard aviation. Deliver explosives detection dog screening capability to the aviation sector as one of Securitas’ Protective Specialist Services. Ensure service aligns with UK legislation, Dept for Transport regulations, Civil Aviation Authority and Securitas procedures to counter terrorist activity.

Screen cargo in accordance with UK regulations utilising technical and canine methods. Maintain the operational capability of the FREDDs and conduct on-the-job training and continuation training. Deploy when required in support of the wider business and produce records associated with FREDDs training.

Based at Chalkwell Kennels (NN10), cover sites in the London Heathrow area when needed. Work 40 hours per week on shifts varying between days, nights and some weekends with sufficient notice. Home kennel your Securitas-provided working dog, monitor canine health and administer care.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (clean license with no endorsements)
  • Live within a 50 minute commute to the site
  • Able to home kennel Securitas provided working dog
  • Canine training experience, ideally within detection capabilities
  • Ability to carefully monitor canine health and administer necessary care
  • Must have a full UK driving license
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and communicate with customers

Responsibilities

  • Screen cargo in accordance with UK regulations utilising technical and canine methods
  • Maintain the operational capability of the FREDDs
  • Conduct on the job training and continuation training
  • Deploy when required in support of the wider business
  • Produce and maintain records associated with FREDDs training
  • Maintain rigid and documented control over all training aids
  • Maintain a positive relationship with animals under your control
  • Be the lead on matters Health and Safety relating to the task
