About this role

As a CCTV Control Room Operator at Dangote Ports Operations, you monitor surveillance systems to detect security incidents and coordinate with safety protocols to protect people, property, and operations. Based at the GDNL Terminal ‘E’ Building in Apapa Port Complex, this role ensures continuous surveillance of terminal operations. You report directly to the Head of Security and work within a dedicated security team.

Your day-to-day involves continuous monitoring of CCTV systems across terminal operations, detecting and reporting security, safety, or operational incidents in real time. You coordinate responses with relevant teams and emergency services, maintain accurate logs, and conduct routine technical checks on surveillance equipment. You also ensure proper handover of duties during shift changes.

You report directly to the Head of Security and work closely within the Security Department. The role requires a strong teamwork mindset and full availability to work a rotating 24/7 shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Operating in a maritime port environment, you must maintain exceptional situational awareness during prolonged monitoring shifts.

You will support investigations by retrieving and reviewing recorded footage, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive security data. This contributes to the overall security posture of the terminal. The role offers a challenging environment with opportunities to enhance your expertise in security operations and crisis management.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of CCTV infrastructure and basic IT/networking troubleshooting.
  • Ability to operate multi-screen consoles and control room equipment.
  • High attention to detail, exceptional situational awareness, and strong visual stamina for prolonged monitoring shifts.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear radio communication etiquette.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and authoritative under pressure during emergency situations.
  • Strong teamwork mindset and full availability to work a rotating 24/7 shift pattern.
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Security Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of active experience in a dedicated security control room or surveillance-heavy role; maritime port or industrial environment experience strongly preferred.
