The K9 Handler screens cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. Handlers complete a 4-8 week minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization. This role focuses on explosive detection using trained working dogs in operational environments.

Daily duties include participating in CCSP training to search cargo and identify threats. Handlers conduct X-ray, physical searches, and trace detection as needed while commanding the dog. Maintain training records and perform authorized representative duties.

Handlers care for and maintain assigned canines, with dogs permitted to live inside the employee's climate-controlled residence subject to inspections. Operate company vehicles during on-site training and uphold security clearances. Work involves compliance in high-security settings like airports.

Growth comes through maintaining certifications and passing contract testing within 4-6 weeks. Opportunities include obtaining badges like SIDA and STA for airport access. The role demands reliable transportation for the canine and crate.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship required for a minimum of three years prior to application
One to two years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
Ability to obtain Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment
Ability to obtain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks
Ability to obtain Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks
Adequate transportation with climate control to transport assigned canine and crate to/from work location
Ability to pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications within four to six weeks

Responsibilities

Screen cargo and identify threats through CCSP related training
