About this role
This role oversees the safety and security of guests, clients, and team members at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As Security Manager, you serve as a key stakeholder throughout the event lifecycle, ensuring operational excellence and world-class customer service for every event.
Day-to-day responsibilities include determining appropriate staffing levels for events, coordinating with internal and contract security teams, and managing high-profile site visits with local, state, and federal law enforcement. You will also review post-show notes, event recaps, and contractor compliance records to maintain operational readiness.
You report directly to the Vice President of Security and work in a collaborative environment focused on innovation and inclusion. The role requires direct supervision of team members, with contact across all levels of the organization and external partners, including executives.
This position offers the opportunity to lead major activities and events on one of the city's premier venue properties. You will help shape security protocols, conduct investigations, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-profile setting.
Requirements
- Experience managing security operations for large-scale events, conventions, trade shows, or entertainment venues
- Ability to coordinate with local, federal, and state law enforcement entities
- Proficiency in reviewing staffing plans, post-event documentation, and contractor compliance records
- Strong investigative skills to conduct internal investigations and ensure accurate incident reporting
- Capability to develop and administer emergency guidelines, procedures, and training materials
- Comfortable with considerable mental and physical effort and able to travel up to 10% of the time
- Experience supervising or managing security team members directly
Responsibilities
- Determine all components of appropriate staffing levels for events, including internal and contract security duties
- Manage approving security plans and ensuring staffing is executed according to plans
- Coordinate with local, federal, and state law enforcement entities as required for high-profile site visits
- Review Momentus actuals, prepare and oversee post-show notes and event recap documentation
- Ensure contractors are compliant with certificate of insurance records and support recruitment and hiring efforts
- Conduct internal investigations and ensure the quality and accuracy of all logs and incident reports
- Conduct quarterly Event Manager and Security meetings and yearly All Security Contractors meetings
- Administer event emergency guidelines, procedures, and training for team members, guests, and clients
