About this role
The Security Guard authorizes entry of individuals into the facility and directs them to desired locations while monitoring security signal systems on doors or in the security office.
During rounds the guard locks and unlocks doors according to schedule and notes unsafe conditions or fire hazards for later reporting to supervisors.
When an incident occurs the guard notifies the Chief of Security plus the Nursing Supervisor on duty and supplies full particulars to the administrator on call if directed.
The role also requires responding to enforce visiting policy, operating package pass procedures, controlling keys for offices and shops, and running the paging system on evening shifts.
Requirements
- Security Guard License
- High School Diploma/GED
Responsibilities
- Authorizes entry of individuals into facility and directs to desired locations
- Monitors security signal systems and takes appropriate action if warning signal is received
- Locks and unlocks doors according to schedule
- Makes notes of and reports unsafe conditions and fire hazards observed during rounds
- Notifies Chief of Security, Nursing Supervisor, and administrator on call of significant incidents
- Responds to floors and units to enforce visiting policy when problems are encountered
- Operates in accord with package pass procedures and controls keys for offices and shops
- Operates paging system after switchboard service ends and transmits important messages
