The Security Officer II at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus observes, responds to, and reports suspicious and unusual incidents within the facilities. This role maintains a safe and secure environment for all staff, patients, and visitors by monitoring the CCTV system and conducting internal and external patrols.

Extensive contact with patients, visitors, employees, and physicians requires strict confidentiality and enforcement of all Security Department policies. Officers answer questions and direct individuals professionally while making quick decisions in emergent situations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • 1 year Law Enforcement Experience as a sworn Police Officer Preferred
  • 1 year Hospital Security Preferred
  • Driver's License Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required
  • License to Carry Handgun within 90 Days Required

Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly and appropriately to fire and disaster emergencies with knowledge of all departmental procedures.
  • Provide assistance in restraining patients to facilitate protection of the patient and staff.
  • Assist nursing staff in removal and transport of deceased from patient care areas to the morgue.
  • Patrol the hospital campus, investigate suspicious activities, and complete work orders to correct observed hazards.
  • Investigate all incidents assigned or observed and complete required reports in a factual and concise manner.
  • Monitor CCTV monitors diligently, answer internal and external telephone calls, and direct public safety response.
  • Answer questions and direct visitors, patients, and employees professionally while exhibiting a pleasant temperament.
