About this role

LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Director, Residential Venue Security leads development and implementation of security strategies for residential venues, including the Athletes’ Village housing more than 15,000 athletes, Media Village, Olympic Family Hotel, and other sites. This ensures comprehensive security operating plans.

The role integrates all designs and plans into overall Games Security Plans and Games Operational Plans. It requires close collaboration with stakeholders across functional areas, government agencies, and public safety partners. Focus remains on achieving highest security levels with operational efficiency.

Reports to the Director, Venue Security, and works with Safety and Security Team, LA28 Functional Areas like Event Management, Transportation, Logistics, and Venue Partners. Coordinates with law enforcement, transportation authorities, emergency services, and private contractors. Develops unified plans covering physical, electronic/technical, and operational security.

Requirements

Strategic thinker capable of integrating venue security into broader Games plans
Strong leadership skills for directing security operations in high-stakes environments
Proven ability to collaborate with multiple functional areas, government agencies, and diverse stakeholders
Experience working with public safety agencies and law enforcement on event security
Proactive and organized approach to detail-oriented security planning
Knowledge of physical, electronic/technical, and operational security measures for venues
Ability to balance comprehensive security with minimal operational disruption

Responsibilities

Lead development and implementation of security strategies for all residential venues of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Develop venue-based security plans in collaboration with Safety and Security Team, LA28 Functional Areas, Venue Partners, and Public Safety Agencies
Provide highest level of security while minimizing impacts to critical event operations across physical, electronic/technical, and operational elements
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners including law enforcement, transportation authorities, emergency services, and private contractors
Create unified and integrated security plans for assigned venues
Develop and integrate plans for Pre-Games Test Events with key stakeholders
Ensure security plans integrate into overall Games Security Plans and Games Operational Plans
