About this role

CAMBA provides supportive housing to seniors 55+ with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders at the SIMBA SIMBI program in Brooklyn. As a Security Guard, you will ensure the safety and security of the facility and its residents.

Your day-to-day duties include patrolling buildings and grounds, monitoring security cameras, conducting screenings of tenants and visitors, and enforcing facility rules. You will also document incidents, issue commendations for positive behaviors, and counsel tenants who violate rules.

You will report to the Assistant Program Manager and work alongside on-site case management staff. Maintaining professional relationships with clients and upholding confidentiality are essential to this role.

CAMBA offers the opportunity to develop crisis prevention and intervention skills while serving a diverse population. Required training includes an 8-hour pre-assignment course and a 16-hour on-the-job course within 90 days.

Requirements

  • NYS Security Guard license.
  • Sufficient education to comprehend basic reading, writing, and math to execute required functions.
  • Must have an 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course certificate.
  • Must obtain a 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment.
  • Must complete the 8-Hour Annual In-Service training course.
  • Ability to comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds to ensure security and fire safety.
  • Monitor tenants and the facility via security camera systems.
  • Conduct security screenings of all tenants and visitors entering the facility.
  • Issue commendations to support positive tenant behaviors such as peers helping peers.
  • Counsel tenants who violate rules and complete infraction reports.
  • Document property damage, unusual occurrences, and incidents in the security logbook.
  • Employ crisis prevention/intervention and crisis management skills when conflict occurs.
  • Examine doors, windows, gates, and fire exits to ensure they are secure and compliant with fire regulations.
