About this role

Security officers are responsible for maintaining the overall security of a property, using tactics to prevent theft, vandalism, and damage. They patrol the property in a vehicle and maintain records of who enters or leaves, either at a front desk or gate.

Daily duties include responding to alarms and emergency situations, making periodic tours to check for irregularities, and inspecting protection devices and fire control equipment. Officers also greet incoming guests and tenants, providing information about the site and surrounding area.

This role involves a non-typical office environment with frequent standing, walking, and talking, both inside and outside. Overtime is required, including on-call, weekends, and 24-hour emergency response.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0 - 3 years of directly related or closely related experience.
  • Valid Guard Card required.
  • PPO#17681 required.
  • Knowledge of State or local governmental safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques at a proficient level.
  • Professional customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to alarms and emergency situations.
  • Make periodic tours to check for irregularities and inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.
  • Greet incoming guests and tenants, providing information regarding the site and surrounding area.
  • Guard and monitor premises to prevent theft, property destruction, violence, or rules and safety violations.
  • Perform fire prevention, safety, and maintenance tasks, and parking/traffic enforcement.
  • Maintain records of visitors and monitor incoming deliveries.
  • Assist guests with providing information and directions.
  • Communicate with emergency personnel and potentially restrain offenders in physical threat situations.
