About this role
CAMBA is a community of staff and volunteers working to build an inclusive New York City. Clarkson Estates provides supportive housing to formerly homeless families, young adults, and formerly incarcerated individuals. The Security Guard plays a vital role in ensuring safety and welcoming visitors.
The Security Guard welcomes onsite visitors, monitors access, and maintains a professional presence at the front desk. They patrol the facility and grounds, monitor security cameras, and respond to suspicious activity. They also assist with emergency procedures like shelter-in-place and fire drills.
Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the guard works within a supportive housing program focused on economic development and workforce training. The environment is diverse, serving a cross-section of New Yorkers including immigrants and refugees.
This role offers the chance to contribute to a mission-driven organization that reaches over 72,000 individuals each year. Guards develop skills in security, de-escalation, and community engagement within a dynamic social services setting.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Security Guard License issued by NYS.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to de-escalate situations calmly and effectively.
- Attention to detail for maintaining logs and incident reports.
Responsibilities
- Welcome onsite visitors, determine nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor visitor access and sign in/out all participants, staff, and visitors during program open hours.
- Maintain a presence at the front desk or designated post to address visitor inquiries and concerns.
- Patrol the facility and grounds to ensure the safety of all persons.
- Monitor security cameras and respond to any suspicious activity to deter unauthorized activity.
- Assist with shelter-in-place, lockdown, and fire drill procedures following center protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of incidents, visitor check-ins, and other relevant activities.
