About this role

This Security Guard role is responsible for comprehensive safety and emergency response at a residential treatment campus. Duties include contacting police, fire, and rescue services, escorting emergency vehicles to scenes, and remaining on location until the situation is resolved.

Day-to-day tasks involve reviewing logbooks at shift start, monitoring the Siemens alarm system, and patrolling interior and exterior of all buildings and parking lots across multiple shifts. Guards also dispense keys and mobile phones, answer phones, and relay urgent maintenance issues to facility supervisors.

The security team serves as the communications center during emergencies, directing evacuations and calling required staff from the alert list. Additional responsibilities include searching grounds for missing clients, filing missing person reports, and transporting clients in extreme emergencies when two guards are on duty.

This role requires attention to detail for documenting all incidents, completing incident reports, and logging every action taken. Guards also perform monthly fire extinguisher checks and secure building doors and gates at designated times, ensuring a safe environment around the clock.

Requirements

Ability to operate push-to-talk radio and 911 emergency communication systems
Capable of driving over grass to reach accessible doors when escorting emergency vehicles
Vigilant in monitoring alarm systems and conducting fire watches during malfunctions
Physically able to walk through all buildings periodically and patrol parking lots
Strong documentation skills for accurate incident reports, logbooks, and vehicle forms
Ability to remain calm and direct evacuations during emergencies or catastrophes
Willingness to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Valid driver's license for transporting clients and staff in emergency situations

Responsibilities

Contact Police/Fire/Rescue Squad via 911 and Nursing Supervisor via push-to-talk
Escort emergency vehicles to locations on grounds and assist as necessary
Monitor Siemens Alarm System and call monitoring company for bypass or testing
Patrol interior and exterior of all residential and administrative buildings and parking lot on all shifts
Complete incident reports and log entries after medical personnel have taken over
Transport clients to hospitals or back to residence during extreme emergencies when two guards are on duty
Search grounds, buildings, and local areas for missing clients and file missing person reports
Check all fire extinguishers monthly and collect empties for refilling
