Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred
  • Current NYS licensure as a Security Officer preferred (Issuing Agency: NYS Department of State)
  • Ability to conduct patrols and respond to emergency situations in a hospital environment
  • Must be able to screen visitors, check identification, and enforce access control policies
  • Capable of directing vehicle traffic and maintaining clear emergency access routes

Responsibilities

  • Provides protection for medical center patients, employees, and visitors by staffing assigned posts and patrolling assigned areas
  • Responds to Team 7000s, restraints, patient observations, disruptive persons, and other requests for emergency and general assistance
  • Participates in access control by checking identification, screening visitors, checking property passes, and clearing areas at the end of visiting hours
  • Directs vehicle traffic to prevent congestion that would hinder center operations and ensures ambulance bays are cleared of unauthorized vehicles
  • Offers assistance and direction to visitors and patients, and detains individuals not authorized to be on the premises
  • Conducts security escorts upon request within the Medical Center, to parking lots, and to staff residences immediately adjacent to the center
  • Escorts Medical Center funds and valuables from various locations to the Cashier
  • Submits timely and complete reports on all pertinent security activity
