About this role

This position enforces all laws, rules and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department within our Job Corps program, which provides life-changing services to help young people succeed. The role is critical to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for both staff and students.

Day-to-day duties include performing alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disasters. You will make physical inspections and security checks of the facility, investigate incidents, and provide clear, accurate reports while controlling disturbances and assisting staff in de-escalating situations.

You will work as part of a team that models appropriate employability skills and fosters a conducive environment free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect. This includes ensuring students' civil rights are not violated and maintaining accountability of staff, students, and property.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce all laws, rules and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department.
  • Perform alarm and patrol duties to protect life and property against theft, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disasters.
  • Make physical inspections and security checks of grounds and facility and document results.
  • Investigate incidents on center and provide clear and accurate reports.
  • Control disturbances and assist staff in de-escalating situations.
  • Search all program participants entering center for contraband and search others as required.
  • Supervise program participants in isolation.
  • Maintain timely and accurate student accountability, security logs, and vehicle/transportation records.
