As a Protective Security Officer serving on a Federal Government contract, you will be responsible for maintaining security, enforcing regulations, and ensuring the safety of personnel and property. This role requires professionalism, vigilance, and a commitment to excellence in service.

You will provide security protection and access control, preventing unauthorized access to government property, classified material, and personnel. You must maintain a high level of alertness and situational awareness at all times, reporting or responding to unusual or emergency situations.

This is a Union position with full-time shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, requiring open availability. You will adhere to strict grooming and uniform standards, including maintaining shined boots and a professional appearance.

You will be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather, as well as high noise levels and hazards including proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. You must be physically capable of standing a 12-hour post and meeting all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security protection and access control for all government property, classified material, and personnel within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Prevent and report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.
  • Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual or suspicious activities.
  • Control ingress and egress into and out of posted, controlled, or security areas.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all security and guard orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties.
  • Be alert for potential security, property, or safety concerns and initiate the appropriate actions.
  • Stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk on uneven terrain.
  • Heavy work: exerting up to 200 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour while in training, then $29.26 per hour.
