About this role

New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee is seeking a highly competent part-time security officer to join our team and protect our valued staff, visitors, clients, and inventory. This role covers weekend shifts, 12 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday.

Our ideal candidate will have at least three years of prior experience as a security officer or guard, along with training in self-defense and first aid. You will have a sharp eye and quick reaction time for detecting suspicious behavior, preventing theft or vandalism, and maintaining a safe environment.

Working under the direct supervision of our security coordinator, you will collaborate with other security officers for effective protection and coverage. You will be visible and observant at all times, greeting staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner while making regular checks of buildings, grounds, and offices.

This role offers the opportunity to serve in a meaningful capacity within a supportive healthcare environment, assisting various units as needed and responding calmly in emergency situations. You will help maintain the company’s reputation through professionalism and legal compliance.

Requirements

Must have a valid Florida Driver's License with 6 points or less in the last 5 years
Security Class D license preferred
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience as a security officer
Helpful, courteous attitude
Certification in first aid, CPR/BLS, and self-defense
Must pass Level 2 Background through DCF and AHCA Clearinghouse

Responsibilities

Ensure a safe environment through diligent active patrol, strict access control, and monitoring of equipment
Be visible and observant at all times, greeting staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner
Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents
Make regular checks of the buildings, grounds, and offices watching for prowlers or for damage or loss of property
Investigate unusual, suspicious, or extraordinary events during rounds and complete paperwork as needed
Assist Screening and Assessment, Detox, Adult Services Unit, Children’s Unit, and the Transitional Group Home Unit when needed
Assist the Charge Nurse, AOC, PM, or designee as needed, including one-to-one duties, witnessing documentation, and use of CPI techniques
Maintain accurate records and activity reports as deemed necessary
