Security Officer III

Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) is seeking a full-time Security Officer III to protect hospital-controlled properties and equipment while providing a safe and secure environment. This evening shift role includes a shift differential for week days, weekends, and holidays.

The Security Officer III patrols facility grounds and buildings, ensuring areas are secure and safety issues are addressed. Duties include responding to behavioral emergencies, escorting individuals on Special Hospitalizations, and patrolling nursing units every 15 minutes.

This position also processes electronic fingerprinting, ensures equipment temperatures are functioning properly, responds to alarms, and supports emergency management programs. The officer transports individuals and provides support to the switchboard and reception as needed.

Successful candidates will have knowledge of Virginia state codes, laws, and regulations, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated mental health facility environment with a comprehensive benefits package.
