About this role

Delta Center is seeking a Building Security Officer to protect one of Salt Lake City's premier venues, home to Utah Jazz games, Utah Mammoth games, concerts, and more. This role is essential to ensuring the safe day-to-day operations of the arena through mastery of all security systems and protocols.

Officers patrol the building at regular intervals, write reports on daily activities and irregularities, and answer alarms to investigate disturbances. The role also involves monitoring building systems like air conditioning and boilers, assisting with VIP and event crew parking, and managing crowd flow during events.

This position works closely with guests and employees, enforcing safety rules and policies while maintaining a proactive, friendly demeanor. Officers assist guests in emergency situations, including medical incidents and evacuations, and help those with special needs.

This part-time day shift role offers a steady schedule from 8am to 4pm at $17.50 per hour. It provides an opportunity to build expertise in arena security operations within a dynamic, event-driven environment.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a valid Utah driver's license
Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening and a drug test
Must be able to take objections and respond with a guest service approach first
Must be able to follow verbal and written direction
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with guests and employees
Maintain a professional appearance as set by Smith Entertainment Group Management

Responsibilities

Patrol areas at regular intervals to ensure properties are secure and safe
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment damage, theft, or unauthorized persons
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
Monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler
Assist with VIP and event crew parking, and manage crowd flow
Assist guests in emergency situations, including medical incidents or evacuations
Enforce arena safety and security rules and policies, and complete required training
Drive a company vehicle to practice facilities as needed
