As Security Guarding Lead at the Plymouth site, you’ll play a vital role in protecting one of the United Kingdom’s most important defence sites. Leading a dedicated security team supports national security and critical infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of security operations in a complex environment. You’ll influence best practice, develop high-performing teams, and contribute to continuous improvement. The role builds leadership skills in a dynamic defence, aerospace, and engineering setting.

Day-to-day you’ll lead, develop and manage a team of security professionals and contractors. You’ll manage security resources and equipment to ensure operational effectiveness while supporting on-call requirements to maintain minimum staffing levels.

You’ll develop and improve security procedures, safe working practices and operational guidance. Promoting a strong security culture by role modelling best practice and company values is central to the position at Devonport Dockyard.

Requirements

Demonstrating strong experience leading and developing teams, ideally within a security environment
Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Leadership, Management, Security, Customer Service or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
Formal security training, ideally including National Protective Security Authority courses
Full UK Driving Licence
Frontline Security Industry Authority Security Officer and/or CCTV Operator licence
Sole UK National able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Standard (BPSS) security clearance
