About this role

Simberi Gold Company Limited forms part of the St Barbara Group. Our Simberi Operations consists of an open cut mine on the northernmost island in the Tabar group of islands in Papua New Guinea. We are currently seeking a Security Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation.

Reporting to the Security Superintendent, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of Security Operations of the Gold Room and the Simberi Mine Lease. This ensures accountability and compliance while providing stability to the working community on the mine lease. The role includes standby support for the superintendent after normal working hours.

Requirements

  • Maintain working knowledge of all security and guard post orders for the Security Contractor (G4S).
  • Coordinate security surveillance and investigation into security risks impacting product and production.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of HSE and Security management practices.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily activities reports documenting observations, incidents and irregularities.
  • Conduct 274 inspections and ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise team of security officers, providing guidance with training and ensuring high performance.
  • Coordinate security operations and activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency across the mine lease.
  • Respond to emergencies and security incidents promptly and effectively.
  • Supervise and monitor CCTV, alarms and access control systems and initiate repairs when necessary.
  • Supervise and support bullion shipment coordination with verification of Gold Shipment documents.
  • Investigate security breaches, prepare detailed investigative incident reports and actions taken.
  • Conduct regular security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Act as a liaison with law enforcement and other relevant authorities.
