About this role

UC Health is seeking a Security Officer II to join the Public Safety & Security team at our Cincinnati campus, supporting the region's adult academic health system. In this role, you will protect associates, patients, visitors, and property while enforcing rules and regulations across all facilities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include patrolling buildings and grounds by foot, bike, or patrol vehicle, responding to alarm activations and radio dispatched calls, and investigating reports of criminal or unusual activity. Officers also conduct safety inspections, check fire extinguishers and panic alarm systems monthly, and perform duties such as locking and unlocking doors, handling lost and found property, and assisting with medical assists and helicopter landing safety.

Requirements

Two years of experience in law enforcement, public safety, security, or military police, minimum required
Associate degree in criminal justice or security management preferred
Graduation from Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) or other state certified training academy as a security or police officer preferred
Obtain IAHSS security officer certification within 12 months of employment
Basic police training preferred
Experience with multiple computer programs including Microsoft Office required
Ability to demonstrate the ability to consider the attributes, special needs, and behaviors of diverse populations served by UC Health

Responsibilities

Patrol property and facilities by foot, bike, or patrol vehicle to ensure a safe and secure environment
Respond to alarm activations and radio dispatched calls in a professional and courteous manner
Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents, and policy violations
Complete appropriate incident reports that are complete, clear, concise, accurate, and professional
Conduct inspections and document potential and real security, health, and safety hazards
Enforce UC Health policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as Federal, State, and Local laws
Perform monthly checks of fire extinguishers and panic alarm systems throughout the facilities and grounds
Assist with additional duties including locking/unlocking doors, motorist assists, medical assists, package delivery, and helicopter landing safety
