About this role
Responsible for maintaining a safe and peaceful environment for all individuals on hospital property. Under general supervision, ensures a secure and orderly environment for employees, visitors, and patients at Corewell Health.
Patrol campus on foot, in vehicle, or on bike as assigned. Duties include unlocking doors, motor assists, monitoring the Security Operations Center for phones, alarms, cameras, and radio traffic, and enforcing hospital rules.
Investigate suspected crimes on hospital grounds and off-site locations, cooperate with law enforcement, and prepare detailed reports. Use non-violent verbal de-escalation to neutralize volatile situations and apply defensive tactics when necessary.
May provide CPR and first aid during medical emergencies, assist with Hazmat/Decontamination procedures, and release patient remains to appropriate agencies. This role offers growth through PA 330 certification for armed officers and expanded responsibilities.
Requirements
- Must obtain Public Act 330 certification and complete Michigan State Police PA 330 certification requirements for armed positions
- Must be able to use defensive tactics and approved MCOLES force continuum
- Must be able to provide CPR and first aid in medical emergencies
- Must be able to assist with Hazmat/Decontamination procedures
- Must be ever observant to suspicious activities and security violations
- Must have a valid driver's license (inferred from patrol duties)
Responsibilities

- Release patient remains to appropriate agencies or funeral homes
