About this role

Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives and prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry. Enforce Virtua Health policies while providing excellent customer service and a positive experience to visitors, patients, vendors, and staff.

Perform duties at assigned posts including walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments. Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms, and conduct weapon screening using handheld wands and the EVOLV system at public entrances.

Communicate effectively with division team members, officer-in-charge, immediate supervisor, nursing supervisor, and law enforcement agencies. Provide directions and escorts to visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside facilities and parking lots.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, and traffic control.
  • Proficiency in using handheld weapon screening wands and the EVOLV weapon screening system.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and coordinating with team and law enforcement.
  • Capability to monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and interact professionally with visitors, patients, vendors, and staff.
  • Must be able to remain calm and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Willingness to work per diem, second shift hours, and on-site at Burlington Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives and prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry.
  • Conduct weapon screening at public entrances using handheld wands and the EVOLV weapon screening system.
  • Monitor alarms, surveillance cameras, and doors, and perform walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, and traffic control.
  • Utilize health system technology for visitor control, data input/output, incident reports, shift logs, and access control.
  • Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff by providing excellent customer service, directions, and escorts within and outside facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with officer-in-charge, immediate supervisor, nursing supervisor, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Verify all staff are wearing ID badges and ensure the security of sensitive areas, including infant protection.
  • Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed and respond to all emergency situations.
