This role provides a secure and safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital. The primary focus is to deliver and receive quality services with minimal threats to personal well-being and property.

Day-to-day duties include patrolling and monitoring facility premises, observing and reporting suspicious activities, and controlling access to keys and emergency response systems. The officer also renders assistance and security-related services, including monitoring and restraining violent patients when necessary.

This position works closely with local law enforcement agencies and serves as a liaison between staff and police. The officer investigates and documents incidents, providing detailed reports to the Lead Security Officer or Manager.

Requirements

Ability to patrol and monitor facility premises to observe and report suspicious and unauthorized activities
Experience with access control, key management, and emergency response and notification procedures
Skill in monitoring and restraining violent patients in a healthcare setting
Capability to document incidents in detail and prepare clear, legible reports for law enforcement and management
Ability to respond to emergency codes, fire drills, and alarms with appropriate action
Competence in providing security education and conducting fire drills for the Safety Department
Experience assisting local authorities such as police and fire departments during emergencies

Responsibilities

Perform interior and exterior building and ground patrols to prevent fire, theft, misuse, and vandalism of property
Inspect doors, windows, locks, elevators, and fire escape stairwells to determine and maintain security levels
Monitor surveillance equipment and observe behavior while on patrol to deter incidents and ensure safety
Respond to emergency codes, fire drills, alarms, and calls for assistance including disorderly conduct, bomb threats, and chemical spills
Remove or restrain individuals to a secure location and document all observations, information, and witness statements
Complete accurate and legible Security Incident Reports, documenting all steps and results for daily incidents, traffic citations, and work orders
Assist staff and visitors with lost and found items and answer general questions related to property or security policies
Provide a security presence within the Emergency Department for hospital personnel and county mental health staff
