About this role

The Senior Executive Protection Specialist is a senior team member responsible for supporting and executing Executive Protection Program requirements. Provides advanced protective services to designated principals, handling complex advances, travel coordination, and acting-in-charge when designated. Develops and executes protection plans while acting as tactical lead for advances, travel, and events.

Conducts venue and route advances, develops contingency plans, and provides close protection for principals and family. Coordinates with hotels, venues, event staff, and carriers while maintaining logs, shift reports, and incident documentation. Inspects and maintains medical equipment, communications, and vehicles, supporting residential and workplace security measures.

Supports training, quality assurance of training and operations, and equipment readiness within a professional security team environment. Mentors specialists and participates in drills and skills sustainment. Position requires living within driving distance to Mayo Clinic campus.

Maintains high readiness and professionalism in a 50% remote role. Undergoes fitness for duty evaluations to ensure physical, cognitive, and psychological readiness for protective duties. Focuses on safe, effective performance under stress, including rapid movement and emergency response.

Requirements

  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills
  • Graduate of an accredited law enforcement academy with a minimum of five years of experience as a law enforcement or security officer, or graduate of an executive security professional course with equivalent experience
  • Have or complete Mayo Clinic Security Academy, Stop the Bleed Training, Firearms Qualifications, First Aid and CPR/AED Certification, Defensive Driving and Safety Certification, AVADE Level 2 and 3, Handcuffing Certification, Threat Assessment Training Certification, Behavior Detection Certification, ASIS Essentials of Executive Protection Certificate within 90 days of hire
  • Maintain physical, cognitive, and psychological readiness for prolonged standing, walking, rapid movement, lifting, vehicle operation, emergency response, and decisions under stress
  • Ability to independently manage a varied workload

Responsibilities
