About this role
Answering to the Assistant Manager, Security and Life Safety, the Security Supervisor ensures efficient operation of the department during their shift. They provide direct oversight of the control centre, deployed security guards, and all tenant communications. This role maintains overall security within the complex.
Primarily based in the Control Centre, oversee day-to-day operations, including guard allocation and dispersal with Controllers. Track all guard activities and incidents to keep Property Management informed of tenant issues. Personally administer and review pass-on processes for accurate information transmission.
Assume Controller roles like Dispatcher or Facility Controller if staff are absent. Oversee incidents using video surveillance and radio equipment, balancing responses with complex-wide security. Ensure professional internal and external communications, monitoring phones, central email, and Angus Anywhere software.
Monitor subordinate staff conduct, dress, and performance, providing mentorship to Controllers and Security Team Leads. Conduct continuation training, generate lesson plans, and deliver monthly staff assessments to management. Review incident reports, perform biweekly audits, and oversee inspections per schedule.
Requirements
- Knowledge of industry best practices, corporate standards, and Criminal Code of Canada
- Experience overseeing control centre operations and security guards
- Proficiency with video surveillance, radio equipment, and incident response
- Ability to manage professional communications via phone, email, and ticketing software
- Supervisory skills for monitoring staff conduct, dress, and performance
- Capability to generate lesson plans and oversee guard training schedules
- Familiarity with pass-on processes and accurate incident reporting
